The traditional Golani Brigade Race began today (06/03/07), in the early morning hours, and is expected to travel through six different locations. The first units, Company 51and Battalion 12, based in the Mt. Hermon region, began the race in Kibbutz Goran and ran through Derech Sholomi, the Krayot and Haifa. The Egoz Special Forces unit will run through Carmiel, Caesaria, and Hadera, and the Reconnaissance Battalion began in Gama junction and will run until Tiberias. The GOC Nothern Command, Major General Gadi Eizenkot spoke, in a special ceremony held in Kiryat Shmona, saying, ?The renewal of the Golani Run after four years time illustrates the honor that exists in the Golani Brigade- from the top of Mt. Hemon in northern Israel until Eilat in the south.? The cadets will conclude their five day run with a final stop in Eilat this coming Thursday.
