Je n'ai pas le temps de traduire cet article qui est paru sur Islam in Europe. Voici un résumé.

Le site néerlandais ScienceGuide a révélé que Tarik Ramadan anime un programme hebodamaire sur la chaîne de télévision iranienne PressTV. Celle-ci est entièrement financée par le gouvernement iranien.

PressTV décrit l'émission en ces termes :

"Une émission hebdomadaire présentée par Tariq Ramadan sur la religion [l'islam, bien entendu] qui enregistre la plus forte progression dans le monde et les défis auxquels ses fidèles sont confrontés, particulièrement en Occident."

ScienceGuide remarque que Tarik Ramadan a continué à présenter son programme dans les semaines qui ont suivi l'élection iranienne, alors que le pouvoir se livrait à de grandes violences contre la population, notamment dans les campus universitaires, sans qu'il émette la moindre protestation.

Le négationniste Nicholas Kollerstrom est aussi un collaborateur de la chaîne, qui le présente sous un angle très flatteur :

"Dans son essai, le Dr Nicholas Kollerstrom postule que le prétendu massacre du peuple juif dans les chambre à gaz pendant la seconde guerre mondiale est scientifiquement impossible. Ce chercheur distingué fut renvoyé le 22 avril 2008 [de l'University College London] sans aucune justification. Une conférence sur l'Holocauste qui s'est tenue à Berlin du 16 au 18 mai a refusé de présenter son article et il fut prévenu que s'il y assistait et présentait son essai il serait arrêté. L'Occident punit ceux qui font des recherches scientifiques sur l'Holocauste, mais ces mêmes pays occidentaux permettent que les prophètes et les croyances religieuses soient insultés ?".

Kollerstrom a écrit:

"Espérons qu'on attirera l'attention des collégiens qui visitent Auschwitz sur l'élégante piscine qui y existait et qui fut construite par les détenus. Ceux-ci pouvaient s'y baigner le samedi et le dimanche après-midi, en regardant des matchs de water polo. Qu'on leur montrera les travaux qu'on faisait dans les cours de dessin - la salle où avaient lieu les cours d'art existe toujours. Qu'on leur expliquera que la bibliothèque réservée aux détenus comprenait 45.000 volumes et qu'un assortiment de périodiques était également à leur disposition. Qu'on n'oubliera pas de rappeler qu'il y avait six orchestres dans le camp d'Auschwitz/Birkenau, que des représentations théâtrales s'y tenaient, ainsi qu'un opéra pour enfants et une séance de cinéma hebdomadaire, et que même un bordel y fonctionnait."

"PressTV a souvent lancé le doute sur l'Holocauste et sur le fait que six millions de Juifs ont été tués par les nazis en Allemagne. Le 18 mai 2008, PressTV a publié un article sur son site web prétendant qu'il était "scientifiquement impossible" que des Juifs aient été tués par un gaz toxique à Auschwitz. L'article était basé sur une étude réalisée par le négationniste de l'Holocauste, Nicholas Kollerstrom, qui a également affirmé que les bombardements du 11 septembre et du 7 juillet à Londres ont été exécutés par les forces de sécurité occidentales. Nicholas Kollerstrom a dit qu'Auschwitz était semblable à une station balnéaire où les détenus pouvaient se bronzer près d'une piscine et regarder des matchs de water polo."

"Dutch site ScienceGuide reveals that Tariq Ramadan has his own show "Islam & Life" on Iranian broadcaster PressTV. On his show Ramadan discusses various social and political issues from an Islamic point of view. According to PressTV this is "A weekly show presented by Tariq Ramadan on the world's fastest growing religion and the daily challenges faced by its followers especially in the West."

The most recent show, for example, was about Islam and art. Recent shows discussed Islam and student involvement, Changing Europe and Islam, Obama and the Muslim world, Islam and science, and the concept of freedom in Islam. All shows are available online.

ScienceGuide reports that Ramadan is joined on his show by British parliament member George Galloway, who was kicked out of the Labour Party for his support of Saddam Hussein, as political commentator.

Dr. Nicholas Kollerstrom, a former astronomer at University College London, who was fired for Holocaust denial, is also on the show. Kollerstrom wrote: "Let us hope the schoolchildren visitors are properly taught about the elegant swimming-pool at Auschwitz, built by the inmates, who would sunbathe there on Saturday and Sunday afternoons while watching the water-polo matches; and shown the paintings from its art class, which still exist; and told about the camp library which had some 45,000 volumes for inmates to choose from, plus a range of periodicals; and the six camp orchestras at Auschwitz/Birkenau, its theatrical performances, including a children's opera, the weekly camp cinema, and even the special brothel established there."

PressTV says: "In his essay, Dr Nicholas Kollerstrom argues that the alleged massacre of Jewish people by gassing during World War II was scientifically impossible. The distinguished academic was dismissed on April 22, 2008 without any explanation and a Holocaust conference held on 16-18 May in Berlin refused his article and warned that he would be arrested if he attended the conference and presented his essay. The West punishes people for their scientific research on Holocaust but the same Western countries allow insults to prophets and religious beliefs'"

PressTV is fully paid for by the Iranian government. After the recent presidential elections that station became so militant that a British presenter resigned. Nick Ferrari said at the beginning of July: "I imagine they've been told what to do, and I can't reconcile that with working there."

Professor Ramadan continued with his program in the weeks after the election, without any objection or protest against the course of events. ScienceGuide says this is remarkable given that the Iranian government made arrests on university campuses and among colleagues of Ramadan.

Ramadan works for the city of Rotterdam as a 'bridge-builder' in the framework of the 'Islam-debates' that the city organizes. Following this report, CDA (Christian-Democratic Appeal) parliament members Jan Jacob van Dijk and Mirjam Sterk turned with questions to the Dutch government, saying Ramadan should not continue as integration advisor to the Rotterdam municipality. Van Dijk says that this is not just a local Rotterdam issue since professor Ramadan is considered a very influential opinion leader in international media and at important universities such as Oxford. The parliament and government have a responsibility towards the content and credibility of the integration debate.
