M. Linton a fini par présenter ses excuses

"[...] Martin Linton MP is the chairman of Labour Friends of Palestine (LFP). Nothing wrong in that. There are very good reasons to wish both the Israeli and Palestinian peoples well for the future.

But let us say you are Martin Linton MP, the chair of LFP and you want to make a criticism of alleged Israeli influence on the Conservative party. Which words would you use to talk about this' Would you perhaps say ?There is too much Israeli influence on the Tory party'? Or would you try to get in some good old fashioned Labour class war stuff and say, ?Too much pro-Israeli money goes to Tory toffs,? for instance.  You certainly could.

What you would be unlikely to say, though Martin Linton did, is: ?There are long tentacles of Israel in this country who are funding election campaigns and putting money into the British political system.? ?Tentacles'. Tentacles. Hmmmnn.

I am always intrigued when something like that slips out. There seem to me only two possible explanations:

a) Mr Linton has at some point read a little too much anti-Semitic conspiracy theory and can't help speaking in the same register as it when he comes to discussing the Jewish state.

b) Mr Linton deliberately indulges in the language of anti-Semitic conspiracy theory.

I am genuinely torn over this. Which of the two do you think it can be'"
